The South American star helped the Italian giants shut out Manchester United in Tuesday’s 1-0 Champions League win, and the Sun says that “City scouts are understood to have made the short trek to Old Trafford” to run the rule over him.
What’s piqued Guardiola’s interest in recent weeks is the rumour that Juventus are “keen” to sign Real Madrid left-back Marcelo in January, and that could well mean they are willing to listen to offers for Sandro.
As for what City would have to pay Juventus, the Sun says it would be in the region of £50m.
Zlatan Ibrahimovic: LA Galaxy to Man Utd
The Sun also reports that the odds have been cut to just 7/2 on Zlatan Ibrahimovic rejoining Manchester United on loan in January. LA Galaxy striker Ibrahimovic could be available on a short-term deal as it will be the off-season in Major League Soccer in the US.
United under pressure to keep Pogba
If Manchester United sell star midfielder Paul Pogba it would result in a “huge financial blow” to the Old Trafford club, the Daily Mail reports. After a reported falling out with boss Jose Mourinho, the Frenchman has been linked with a move to Barcelona. But despite considering potential replacements for Pogba United are “under significant commercial pressure” not to sell the global icon.
Ritsu Doan: Groningen to Man City
Premier League champions Manchester City are tracking Japanese midfielder Ritsu Doan and could make a move for the £5m-rated Groningen star. The 20-year-old is also linked with Juventus and Atletico Madrid. (Daily Mirror)
Wolves set for busy new year
Premier League new boys Wolves are preparing for a busy time in the January transfer market. The Daily Telegraph says that Nuno Espirito Santo is targeting a striker while the Birmingham Mail adds that the Wolves boss is keen on three new arrivals. Liverpool’s Divock Origi could be an option.
Mario wanted by Prem clubs
Inter Milan’s Portuguese midfielder Joao Mario is a target for Wolves, Leicester City, Southampton and Fulham. The 25-year-old has not played for Inter so far this season. (BBC via Calciomercato)
Nacho Monreal: Arsenal to Barcelona/Athletic Bilbao
Arsenal’s Spanish left-back Nacho Monreal could be set for a return to his homeland in the new year. The 32-year-old is being linked with La Liga clubs Barcelona and Athletic Bilbao. (The Guardian)
