Snooker’s greatest match? Ronnie O’Sullivan beats Judd Trump in final black classic
Rocket Ronnie hits back to win 10-9 and reach the Tour Championship final
Ronnie O’Sullivan has reached the Tour Championship final after fighting back to beat Judd Trump 10-9 in a classic in Llandudno.
Described by the BBC as a “thriller”, the semi-final clash between O’Sullivan and Trump was decided on the final black.
Trump had led the match 6-2 and 8-5 and in the final frame he was 60-35 up before missing the yellow. O’Sullivan brilliantly cleared the colours to secure his place in Sunday’s final.

Speaking after the match O’Sullivan said: “I was enjoying the match, enjoying the game, enjoying competing. I’d have been disappointed if I’d lost.”
Seven-time world champion Stephen Hendry, who now works as a TV pundit, added: “Considering what happened in the Masters, 6-2 down today, that’s massive for Ronnie O’Sullivan, it’ll mean almost as much as any win this season. He showed more intensity this evening, he was stalking the table like you expect Ronnie O’Sullivan to do.
World No.2 O’Sullivan, 43, can return to the top of the rankings if he beats Mark Allen or Neil Robertson in the final. Allen and Robertson play in the other semi-final on Friday.
Snooker fans hail an epic contest
The semi-final between O’Sullivan and Trump will go down as one of the best-ever snooker matches with many fans watching on in disbelief as “Rocket Ronnie” edged out his rival. Here we round up the best Twitter reactions...
