A "wonderfully pointless" new device from France is starting to show up in North American restaurants. Le Whaf ($166), a gadget that transforms food flavors into inhalable vapors, is already "incredibly popular in Europe, where dieters have doubtless discovered they can drink in the flavors of, say, chocolate, with hardly any of the calories." The brainchild of a Harvard aerosol scientist, it so far works only with liquids, and has thus been regularly used to turn craft cocktails into tasty little clouds that are very low in alcohol content. Pour one into a glass and suck it in with a special straw. "It touches all the senses." Source: The Ottawa Citizen
