Two-thirds of millennials would rather not be millennials

For all of the TV shows, news outlets, and even Whole Foods stores that pander to millennials, a surprisingly small percentage of Americans identify with the term.

A Public Religion Research Institute poll released Friday found that only 34 percent of 18- to-35-year-olds — a.k.a., those who fall into the "millennial" age category — identify as such. Sixty-six percent of respondents, meanwhile, said that the term millennial "doesn't describe them well," according to the poll.
