A section of the Las Vegas Strip was shut down Sunday night after a vehicle hit dozens of pedestrians on a sidewalk outside of the Planet Hollywood hotel.
One person is dead and 36 are injured, News 3 in Las Vegas reports. The driver of the 1996 Oldsmobile fled the scene and turned herself in to security at the nearby Tuscany Suites & Casino. There was a 3-year-old child in the car with her, News 3 reports, and police say drunk driving is suspected. The incident took place as the Miss Universe pageant was finishing up inside Planet Hollywood.
UPDATE: Police said late Sunday they do not consider the incident to be terrorism but they are "treating this as an intentional act."
