Watch Chris Rock poll Compton moviegoers about the Oscar nominees

Chris Rock wanted to know how real people felt about the #OscarsSoWhite controversy, so the Academy Award host went to Compton to ask black moviegoers for their opinions. Most told him they weren't surprised by the lack of diversity among the nominees, and found it upsetting. "Did you think about rioting and looting?" Rock asked one woman. "No, we did that already and I didn't get nothing the first time," she responded with a laugh. "I was too little." The people Rock spoke with hadn't heard of any of the nominated movies he rattled off (Brooklyn, Spotlight, The Big Short, Trumbo), with one declaring that she sees movies all the time and Rock had to be pulling her leg. "You're making them up," she accused the host. "You're messing with me, right?" Watch the video below. Catherine Garcia
