A Chicago-bound Amtrak train derailed just after midnight on Monday, injuring 32. According to an anonymous U.S. official who spoke with The Associated Press, the train's engineer had noticed a large bend in the rail and pulled the emergency brake while the train was traveling at 75 miles per hour. Eight of the train's nine cars came off the track in the accident, which occurred about 20 miles west of Dodge City, Kansas, while the train was en route from Los Angeles.
