Admission to every U.S. national park will be free from April 16-24
Stop putting off that trip to the Grand Canyon, Yellowstone, or Denali — from April 16 to April 24, admission will be free to every national park in the United States in celebration of National Parks Week.
The National Park Services has a website with a complete list of the parks waiving their entrance fees (while admission will be free at the parks, there will still be camping fees). For those who can't make it to a park next week, there will be a few other admission-free days during the year, Money reports: Aug. 25 to 28 (National Park Service Birthday), Sept. 24 (National Public Lands Day), and Nov. 11 (Veterans Day).
2016 marks the 100th anniversary of the National Park Service, created by President Woodrow Wilson in 1916. At the time, there were 35 national parks and monuments; today, there are 400 in all 50 states and the District of Columbia. The nation's very first national park, Yellowstone, was designated in 1872 in the Wyoming and Montana territories.
