Uzbek citizen Azizjon Rakhmatov, 28, was arrested in New York City on Wednesday for allegedly conspiring to provide material support to the Islamic State and conspiring to use a firearm, Reuters reports.
Rakhmatov's arrest was the sixth to have been made in relation to a New York-based support network for individuals seeking to join ISIS. A Brooklyn-based Uzbek national and a Kazakh national also living in New York reportedly planned to travel to Turkey and then Syria to join the terror organization; Rakhmatov and three co-defendants are accused of helping to fund those efforts.
Since 2014, at least 85 people have been charged by U.S. authorities with crimes relating to ISIS.
