Donald Trump revokes press access for The Washington Post

In a statement released Monday, presumptive Republican nominee Donald Trump announced a blanket revocation of press access for The Washington Post:

The paper joins a lengthy list of mostly left-leaning publications that have reportedly been banned from covering the Trump campaign, apparently due to a headline it ran Monday regarding the Orlando nightclub shooting that alleged Trump linked President Obama to the tragedy.

Update: Marty Baron, executive editor of The Post, has released a statement, saying, "Donald Trump's decision to revoke The Washington Post's press credentials is nothing less than a repudiation of the role of a free and independent press. When coverage doesn't correspond to what the candidate wants it to be, then a news organization is banished. The Post will continue to cover Donald Trump as it has all along — honorably, honestly, accurately, energetically, and unflinchingly. We're proud of our coverage, and we're going to keep at it."
