Joey Chestnut won the annual Fourth of July hot dog eating contest at Nathan's Famous in Coney Island, and set a record in the process.
In just 10 minutes, the San Jose, California, resident ate 70 hot dogs and buns, beating Mattie Stone by 17 hot dogs and buns. His 70 dogs were the most ever downed during a competition, The Associated Press reports, and the 32-year-old set the last world record in 2013 by eating 69 hot dogs and buns in 10 minutes. Chestnut had won eight competitions in a row before Stone defeated him in last year's Mustard Yellow International Belt.
Miki Sudo, the defending champion in the women's division, won again this year after eating 38-and-a-half hot dogs and buns in 10 minutes. The Las Vegas resident has won the contest the past two years.
