Six and a half miles of hot lava is oozing its way from Hawaii's Kilaueu volcano to the sea, a glacial-paced march that began on May 24. Now less than a mile from the ocean, the lava flow is embracing the physical theory of the path of least resistance by burning straight through a forest:
