What a night

After night of chaos and violence, Turkish coup appears to unravel

Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan appears to have reasserted at least temporary control of his nation after an attempted coup by a military faction. Nearly 200 people have been killed and more than 1,500 arrested as Erdogan loyalists took to the streets and fought to regain their grasp on power. Erdogan flew into Istanbul from "an undisclosed location" early Saturday, declaring that "what is being perpetrated is a rebellion and a treason. They will pay a heavy price for their treason to Turkey." During the chaos, there were reports of a helicopter attack near Ankara, a bomb exploding near Parliament, tanks rolling through the streets, and even suggestions of an assassination attempt on Erdogan.
