Trevor Noah sums up the RNC: 'Speech after speech of screaming about everything that will kill us'
The theme for the opening night of the Republican National Convention on Monday was "Make America Safe Again," but in Daily Show host Trevor Noah's opinion, "Make America Fear Again" would've been a more apt description. "It was terror," Noah said in his Tuesday night episode. "Speech after speech of screaming about everything that will kill us. Forget 'Make America Safe Again,' after that I just wanted to make my underpants dry again."
The thing is, Noah said, he couldn't figure out why Republicans were so scared. After all, Noah pointed out, the U.S. is "much safer now than it was 20 years ago," with crime rates steadily declining. His best guess was revealed to him by Rudy Giuliani's speech, in which the former New York mayor pointed up when he meant to point down, and pointed to the side when he meant to point to the middle. "Maybe that explains why Republicans are so scared," Noah said. "They're living in a world where up is actually down, and I guess that's why, to them, safer is actually scarier."
