Donald Trump knows his way around an insult, but he wasn't letting Hillary Clinton off the hook over her claim that half of his supporters belong to the so-called "basket of deplorables."

"If Hillary Clinton will not retract her comments in full, I don't see how she can credibly campaign any further," he told the National Guard Association in Baltimore on Monday.

Clinton said she misspoke when she claimed Friday that "half" of Trump's supporters were "racist, sexist, homophobic, xenophobic, Islamophobic — you name it," but she did not retract her comment or regret accusing Trump's campaign of being a "national platform [for] hateful views and voices."

Critics of Trump were quick to point out that the Republican nominee has called the 33.7 million Hispanic people of Mexican origin living in the United States "rapists" and "criminals" and demanded surveillance and a registry of the 3.3 million American Muslims.
