Donald Trump trails by 11 points in new national poll

Donald Trump trails by 11 points in a new national NBC News/Wall Street Journal poll, conducted after the release Friday of audio featuring Trump graphically talking about women but before Sunday night's presidential debate. In the poll, the results of which were released Monday, Trump pulls 35 percent support in a four-way matchup among likely voters, far behind Hillary Clinton's 46 percent. In a head-to-head matchup, Trump's deficit balloons to 14 points, as Clinton leads 52 percent to 38 percent.
Trump's post-video numbers mark a 7-point drop in the four-way matchup and a 5-point drop in the head-to-head matchup since the poll was last taken Sept. 19.
The poll was conducted from Oct. 8-9 over the phone, and includes 447 interviews with likely voters. The margin of error among likely voters is plus or minus 4.6 percent.
