North Korea may launch another ballistic missile within the next 24 hours. Fox Business Network reported Tuesday that, citing two U.S. officials, the communist nation is planning another missile test for "the next 24 to 72 hours." The attempt would mark North Korea's ninth try in the span of less than a year to launch a weapon that has a range of up to 1,800 miles — potentially far enough to reach Hong Kong.
A study published in October noted North Korea's tests appear to be "clustered increasingly closer to U.S. elections," Reuters reported. The most recent launch, which failed, took place last month right around the third U.S. presidential debate. Other attempts happened on Oct. 20 and on Sept. 9, which was the largest test to date.
The United Nations has already sanctioned North Korea for its nuclear and missile programs, and has threatened further action.
