South Park's creators had to completely rewrite their election episode after Donald Trump won
Not even the makers of South Park saw Donald Trump's victory coming. The show's post-presidential election episode, which aired Wednesday, was originally supposed to be titled "The Very First Gentleman," based on the assumption that former President Bill Clinton would become first gentleman when his wife Hillary Clinton won the White House. The episode's original plot reportedly featured a "principal holding a rally at South Park Elementary after a Hillary Clinton victory; the principal was set to welcome Bill Clinton to speak to the grade-schoolers," Entertainment Weekly said.
But after Tuesday night, a swift rewrite was in order. The episode was re-titled "Oh, Jeez," and the new preview showed Randy Marsh trying to get his wife Sharon and his daughter Shelly excited about the fact that "America's going to be great again." When Shelly refused to be happy about it, Randy replied, "Oh come on, Shelly. We've learned that women can be anything. Except for president."
