A soldier on active duty was arrested Saturday at his Honolulu apartment for allegedly having ties to the Islamic State, the FBI said Monday.

Ikaika Erik Kang, 34, is with the 25th Infantry Division at Schofield Barracks in Wahiawa, FBI spokesman Arnold Laanui told Hawaii News Now. In a statement, the Army said Kang has been accused of trying to provide military documents and training to ISIS, and he swore allegiance to the terror group. Kang was the subject of a year-long investigation, officials said, and is expected to appear in federal court Monday afternoon.
