CNN announced Thursday that it is cutting ties with Jeffrey Lord, one of the network's biggest pro-Trump commentators, after Lord tweeted the Nazi salute "Sieg Heil" at a reporter for the progressive watchdog group Media Matters for America:
"Nazi salutes are indefensible," said a CNN spokesperson. "Jeffrey Lord is no longer with the network."
In a column for the American Spectator published Thursday, Lord had slammed "Media Matters Fascists" for being "anti-free speech bigots who, in typical fascist style, make it their mission to shut down speech they don't like." He has feuded with reporter Angelo Carusone in the past, too, writing: "This is America, Angelo. Not Fascist Italy, Nazi Germany, or Communist Russia."
