Amazon has begun the hunt for a second headquarters location, with founder and CEO Jeff Bezos saying the new facility will "be a full equal to our Seattle headquarters." The new campus is expected to cost upwards of $5 billion and add as many as 50,000 jobs, CNBC reports.
Amazon is searching specifically for urban areas of more than one million people that would offer "a stable and business-friendly environment." Cities and states are already being encouraged to submit proposals.
"Amazon HQ2 will bring billions of dollars in upfront and ongoing investments, and tens of thousands of high-paying jobs," Bezos said. "We're excited to find a second home."
