Former Republican presidential nominee Mitt Romney was reportedly treated for prostate cancer last summer, multiple publications have confirmed. A Romney aide told CNN's Jake Tapper that the former governor of Massachusetts "was diagnosed with slow-growing prostate cancer" last year but that "the cancer was removed surgically and found not to have spread beyond the prostate."
With Sen. Orrin Hatch (R-Utah) having announced plans to retire at the end of his term, Romney is seen as a potential contender for the Senate seat in the election this fall.
