Father-daughter duo spends summer visiting every MLB ballpark
Emily Thompson may not be the world's biggest baseball fan, but she does love her dad, and that's why she spent the summer with him traveling 13,000 miles in order to visit all 30 Major League Baseball parks.
Danny Thompson has always been into baseball, and his daughter told KGO-TV that throughout her life, he's talked about going to all of the different ballparks. He recently had a heart attack, and Emily Thompson knew she wanted to take him on some sort of an adventure. "I was trying to find a way to connect with him and we didn't have much, but baseball I could do," she said. "My main goal was to spend time with him."
Father and daughter are both are teachers in Los Angeles, and they mapped out a trip that would get them back home before school started. Danny Thompson liked seeing Chicago's Wrigley Field and PNC Park in Pittsburgh, but he chose AT&T Park in San Francisco as their last stop for sentimental reasons. "I used to go to Candlestick Park with my dad, and the Giants were my favorite team," he said. "So we wanted to culminate the experience and the tour here at AT&T." His daughter was a good sport throughout the summer, Thompson told KGO-TV, and they are now closer than ever. "It was a good bonding experience," he said.
