Democrat Jennifer Wexton has defeated incumbent Rep. Barbara Comstock (R) in Virginia's 10th District House race, NBC News and Reuters project.
Wexton won 58.8 percent of the vote to Comstock's 41.2 percent, with 44.1 percent of precincts reporting, per Reuters. This marks Democrats' first flipped House seat of the 2018 midterms.
Wexton's campaign office got a surprise visit from former President Barack Obama and Virginia Sen. Tim Kaine (D) on Monday, a reflection of how this race's potential to flip drew some big-name supporters. Polls showed Wexton far ahead of Comstock in the weeks before the midterms.
