Fox News' Election Night coverage got pretty awkward on Tuesday, with anchor Chris Wallace completely shutting down host Laura Ingraham's analysis of the results.
After some key Republican victories, Ingraham concluded that the reason Republicans were winning was that they've embraced President Trump, whereas the reason Democrats were losing was that they've become the party of Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez, a democratic socialist who was elected to Congress Tuesday. That message, Ingraham said, is going to be a "tough sell" in 2020.
But before the panel could move on, Fox News reporter Chris Wallace called Ingraham out for this assessment, saying it's a "complete mischaracterization." He argued that the reason Democrats won a majority in the House is "not because they went far left," pointing to moderate candidates like Virginia's Abigail Spanberger, who unseated Rep. Dave Brat (R-Va.) in a surprise victory. Wallace also suggested Ingraham was being hypocritical, saying that if she gives Republicans credit for keeping the Senate, she must also give the Democrats credit for flipping the House.
