R. Kelly is back in custody
R. Kelly is in custody again after a child support hearing on Wednesday afternoon, The Associated Press reports.
The R&B singer was arrested two weeks ago on 10 counts of criminal sexual abuse, and released days later on $100,000 bail. He returned to a Chicago court for a hearing on unpaid child support Wednesday and was taken back into custody, with a Cook County Sheriff spokesperson not disclosing if it had to do with unpaid support, per AP. The spokesperson did say Kelly would be transferred to a county jail.
Allegations of sexual misconduct and assault against Kelly span decades, with disturbing accounts describing how he "brainwashed" young women under the guise of advancing their careers. The Lifetime documentary Surviving R. Kelly, which aired earlier this year, sparked investigations into Kelly in multiple states. A Chicago investigation led to the 10 counts against Kelly. He has denied any wrongdoing.
