Troop Beverly Hills cast reunites 30 years later, talks sequel
Before Beverly Hills, 90210, there was Troop Beverly Hills, and 30 years after the movie's release, some of the stars reunited at — of course — The Beverly Hills Hotel to reminisce and chat about where their characters might be today.
Stars Shelley Long, Kellie Martin, Tori Spelling, Betty Thomas, Aquilina Soriano, Tasha Scott, Heather Hopper, and Dinah Lacey spoke with Entertainment Tonight about filming the movie, which followed soon-to-be-divorced Beverly Hills socialite Phyllis Nefler (Long) as she became leader of her daughter Hannah's (played by Jenny Lewis) Wilderness Girls troop. They camp out at The Beverly Hills Hotel, earn badges in jewelry appraisal, and manage to get Robin Leach to attend their fashion show. "It's khaki wishes and cookie dreams!"
Thomas, who played the very mean rival troop leader, Velda Plendor, told ET Sony has a script for a sequel, and while it's supposed to focus on new characters, "we could have some cameos." After Troop Beverly Hills, Thomas left acting to become a director, and shared a secret with ET: "I actually know that there's a person going in to pitch it with the idea that I would direct it, and that she is going to do the rewrite on it. I'm not supposed to say any of this!"
