Fox News and Fox Business mentioned Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez more than 3,000 times in 42 days

Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez (D-N.Y.) is once again calling out Fox News for its obsessive coverage of her, and this time, she's brought the math.

The progressive organization Media Matters for America on Friday reported that in 42 days, from February 25 through April 7, Ocasio-Cortez was mentioned on Fox News and Fox Business 3,181 times. Her name was mentioned on the network at least once every single day for those six weeks, though not all of the mentions came from segments devoted entirely to her, as Media Matters notes she's often brought up in seemingly unrelated discussions.

Ocasio-Cortez has previous taken issue with Fox's frequent coverage of her. In March, she criticized what she called "Fox News lunacy" and asked, "why are so many grown men just obsessed with this 29-year-old?” One Lou Dobbs segment Media Matters documented as part of this project may offer an answer, with Dobbs saying in a surprisingly meta moment, "We have an AOC segment every single day, almost every single hour. She's good for our ratings."
