Beyoncé drops surprise Homecoming album alongside Netflix Coachella documentary

Yet another surprise Beyoncé album has arrived.
Homecoming, the new Netflix documentary about Beyoncé's legendary 2018 Coachella performance, has now premiered online. That had been previously announced, but alongside the documentary's release, Beyoncé also unexpectedly dropped a Homecoming live album, per The New York Times. The 40-track album is available on streaming services like Spotify in addition to Tidal, with Beyoncé casually tweeting about its release in the early hours of the morning.
Some fans had speculated Beyoncé might be preparing to drop an entirely new album unrelated to the Coachella performance, as Variety reported, but that did not turn out to be the case. Still, it was a welcome surprise for fans and was only the latest instance of Beyoncé dropping out album fairly out of nowhere, a strategy that was also employed with past releases like Lemonade, which debuted following an HBO special, and Everything Is Love.
