Here are the Tony Awards' top nominations and most surprising snubs

Jeff Daniels and Bryan Cranston just scored Tony nominations — but their seemingly acclaimed plays didn't.
In Tuesday's Tony Award nomination reveals, the two screen stars earned Best Leading Actor in a Play nods for To Kill a Mockingbird and Network, respectively. They join Adam Driver in the category, but unlike Driver's Burn This, their productions didn't get Best Play or Best Revival of a Play nominations.
The noteworthy snubs mean To Kill a Mockingbird's nine nominations put it on par with The Ferryman, and the two productions secured the most nominations of any play in this year's Tony crowd. Heidi Schreck in What the Constitution Means to Me and Laurie Metcalf for Hillary and Clinton are among the six nominees for Best Leading Actress in a Play.

In a year without any buzzy musicals leading the way, the recently premiered musical Hadestown led the overall field with 14 nominations. Those include Best Musical, Eva Noblezada for Best Leading Actress, Best Original Score, and both the Best Featured Actor and Best Featured Actress categories. Ain’t Too Proud—The Life and Times of The Temptations is right behind with 12 nods, and Tootsie follows with 11.
Already announced on Monday were Special Tony Award recipients, including Ragtime and Kiss Me, Kate star Marin Mazzie, who died in September. The creators of the giant ape puppet for King King and Choir Boy musical director Jason Michael Webb will also get special awards. James Corden will host the Tony Awards on June 9.
