Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez is officially calling for Trump’s impeachment

Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez (D-N.Y.) is lending another high-profile voice to the impeachment chorus.
In a series of tweets on Tuesday, the freshman congressmember officially declared that the House's "oath to uphold the Constitution" and "preserve our institutions" proves that it's time to impeach President Trump. She's not concerned that the GOP-held Senate probably won't follow the Democratic House's lead, seeing as former President Bill Clinton's impeachment also failed in the Senate. Instead, she's simply telling telling the House that "failure to impeach now is neglect of due process."
This puts Ocasio-Cortez in a camp with several Democrats and one Republican who are officially calling for impeachment proceedings to get started. But House Speaker Nancy Pelosi (D-Calif.) has made it clear she's not sold on impeachment yet, despite at least five members of her team reportedly pushing her to support it. House Judiciary Chair Jerrold Nadler (D-N.Y.) said last week he wasn't sure if Congress would ever impeach Trump, though he confirmed Sunday that he wasn't ruling the proceedings out and has reportedly tried to talk Pelosi into them.
