Trump lands in Britain for state visit, immediately calls London mayor 'nasty' and 'a stone cold loser'

President Trump landed in Britain on Monday for a pomp-filled state visit, D-Day commemorations in Britain and France, and a trip to Ireland and his golf resort there. Trump had already delved into British politics before landing, earning criticism from the British press and politicians, and he announced his landing in a tweet attacking London's mayor, Sadiq Khan. Khan, a Trump critic, "has been foolishly 'nasty' to the visiting president of the United States, by far the most important ally of the United Kingdom," and "he is a stone cold loser," Trump tweeted. "I look forward to being a great friend to the United Kingdom, and am looking very much forward to my visit."

It's not clear why Trump put "nasty" in quotation marks, but he called Meghan Markle, the Duchess of Sussex, "nasty," before arriving in Britain and then denied doing so.
