The Onion came for 2020 Democrat John Hickenlooper. He had a surprisingly funny response.

2020 Democrat John Hickenlooper has mastered the art of the deadpan reply.

The former Colorado governor isn't having a particularly prosperous presidential run, prompting The Onion to take a shot as his fundraising game on Tuesday. And while Hickenlooper's response almost looks like he fell for the satirical spin, it's definitely just a perfectly tempered comeback.

On Tuesday afternoon, The Onion tweeted out an article titled "John Hickenlooper Sets Ambitious $250 Fundraising Goal For Next Debate Cycle" — an amount that obviously won't get Hickenlooper into the second round of Democratic debates. Yet just a few minutes later, Hickenlooper shared this response.

Hickenlooper did manage to make the first Democratic debate stage, which mandated candidates earned 1 percent polling and 65,000 unique donors with a minimum of 200 individuals in at least 20 states. There's also a strong chance he'll appear in the second round, seeing as he's already hit its polling threshhold.
