LeBron James joins thousands of Los Angeles residents evacuating their homes amid wildfires

LeBron James is getting fully initiated to life on the west coast.
A wildfire west of Los Angeles forced the Los Angeles Fire Department to mandate evacuations for about 10,000 buildings, it announced Monday morning. That area included thousands of California residents, including newly minted Angeleno LeBron James, who tweeted that he and his family had evacuated.
James later tweeted that he'd found a "place to accommodate us," and that he was praying for families and first responders dealing with the fires.

In the less than 12 hours since the Getty fire — named for the nearby Getty Center — ignited, more than 500 acres have burned. At least five homes had been destroyed as of 8:10 a.m. PT, Los Angeles Fire Department Chief Ralph Terrazas told the Los Angeles Times. About 500 firefighters are working to stop the blaze from growing. In the meantime, a mandatory evacuation zone stretches west of the 405 freeway to Temescal Canyon road, with Mulholland Drive as a northern border and Sunset Boulevard on the south. A handful of larger fires continue to burn throughout California. Kathryn Krawczyk
