Mariah Carey's 'All I Want For Christmas Is You' hits Billboard's top spot — 25 years after its debut
Mariah Carey still didn't get what she wanted for Christmas, but this is a good replacement.
Carey's hit holiday single "All I Want For Christmas Is You" has made her wishes clear for the past 25 years — she wants "you," "for my own," and "more than you could ever know." But this year, all she received was the song's ascendance to the top of the Billboard Hot 100 chart, and for the first time since it debuted in 1994.
Carey kicked off a promotional push that bumped the track into the Top 100 with a spirited video on Halloween night, which showed her going to bed in costume and waking up to a call from Santa the next morning.

With that, the holiday season and the streaming blitz officially commenced. And after peaking at No. 10 on 2017's Hot 100 chart and No. 3 last year, Carey's wish finally came true on Monday, Billboard confirmed. "All I Want's" rise makes it Carey's 19th No. 1 single, just one fewer than the record-holding Beatles — but we dare you to listen to Carey's hit below and say she's not worthy of the crown.
