Today’s back pages: it’s getting nasty ahead of the Manchester derby
A round up of the sport headlines from UK newspapers on 24 April
The Manchester derby takes place tonight at Old Trafford and if the match is as lively as the build up then we could be in for a classic.
The Daily Mirror reports that it’s “all kicking off” ahead of the game between Man Utd and Man City while the Daily Star says it’s “getting nasty” with “Manchester at war”.
Many of today’s newspaper back pages focus on the quotes given by United manager Ole Gunnar Solskjaer in his pre-match press conference.

Ahead of the Premier League clash Solskjaer said of rivals City: “There will be fouls. They will snap at your ankles and heels and kick you.”
City and their manager Pep Guardiola are angry at Solskjaer’s “jibe” says The Times back page.
If City beat United they will return to the top of the Premier League table ahead of Liverpool. Despite the pressure on the title chasers Guardiola and City don’t fear playing at Old Trafford, the Daily Express reports.
‘Hail Cesar’
Football is in mourning after the death of Celtic legend Billy McNeill. The first British player to lift the European Cup has died at the age of 79. The Scottish Sun, The Herald and Metro pay tribute to the captain of the “Lisbon Lions”.
