New TVR to have 'highest power-to-weight' in class
Upcoming sports car will be powered by a 5.0-litre V8 developed by Cosworth, reports say
TVR's new sports car in more than a decade will have the "highest power-to-weight ratio of any vehicle in its class", Autocar reports.
It will weigh a mere 2,646lbs (1,200kg) and be powered by a 5.0-litre Cosworth V8 engine, the magazine adds, helping the yet-to-be-named vehicle to a power-to-weight ratio of 400bhp per 1,000kgs (2,200lbs).
That "beats rivals including the Porsche 911 Turbo S and the limited-production Aston Martin Vantage GT8, which offer 364bhp and 293bhp per tonne respectively".

The new car, the first be built under TVR's new owners since they bought the carmaker in 2013, is expected to be very compact, says Evo. It will be shorter than a BMW 1 Series and Porsche 911 and have a slightly shorter roofline than the Jaguar F-Type.
However, adds the site, "it's still significantly larger than an Alfa Romeo 4C".
Unlike the fibreglass bodies of previous TVRs, the new vehicle will boast a carbon fibre structure similar in design to those found on modern supercars.
Little else is known about the sports car, although early concept images posted on Top Gear suggest it will have a front-engined layout like the company's previous models. There's also a chance it will get a sculpted, bubble roof similar to the TVR Tuscan from 2005.
The car will be revealed at the Goodwood Revival historic racing event on 8 September. Prices have yet to be announced, but Autocar says fans should expect a figure of "less than £90,000".
