There is another twist in the growing gossip surrounding Harry Kane’s future with The Sun reporting that Barcelona had their spies at the Bernabeu on Tuesday to run the rule over the Tottenham striker.

Kane put in a polished performance in Spurs’ 1-1 draw with Real in Tuesday’s Champions League clash and according to Spanish newspaper Mundo Deportivo his display was duly noted by Barcelona director Roberto Fernandez.

The paper says he was despatched to check out not just Kane, but also his Tottenham teammate Christian Eriksen.

The Dane has been in fine form this season and Barcelona’s interest in the midfielder stretches back to his time with Ajax. Although they lost out to Tottenham four years ago, Barcelona have watched with interest as the 25-year-old Eriksen has blossomed into a world-class playmaker and there is an hardening ambition in the Camp Nou to capture his signature next summer.

Tottenham, however, are “determined” to resist all attempts to break up their squad and will not take kindly to any approach for either player.

TalkSPORT also carries a report about the presence of Fernandez on Tuesday night and the broadcaster says that if the two Spanish giants are serious about bidding for Kane, then they’ll have to be ready to pay £200million and not the £150m that they are currently considering.

As for Eriksen, talkSPORT says that Barcelona see the Dane as “an excellent alternative” to Liverpool’s Philippe Coutinho, who they tried unsuccessfully to lure from Anfield last summer.
