Jeremy the snail no longer left on the shelf
A snail called Jeremy, who has a very rare left-spiralling shell and genitals, has found a mate. Following an appeal by the University of Nottingham last month, Jeremy has been introduced to a new friend called Lefty and the pair are apparently hitting it off. Jeremy's left-spiralling shell makes it impossible for him to mate with a "normal" snail.

Dead man re-elected to local council
Californians have re-elected a man who died of natural causes in September as the city treasurer for Oceanside, in San Diego County. Despite having been dead for more than six weeks, Gary Ernst managed to beat his rival, Nadine Scott, by a margin of six points. City officials are working out how to replace him.
Car thieves trash three high-performance cars
Three teenage car thieves have been caught less than a mile from where they had stolen four high-performance cars from a Missouri Dodge dealership. According to local media, three of the teens lost control of their vehicles and crashed them all "within yards of one another". Police are still looking for the fourth teen and the car he managed to get away in.
