On Monday, the White House dismissed President-elect Donald Trump's claim that "millions" of people had voted "illegally" in the presidential election. White House Press Secretary Josh Earnest said "there has been no evidence produced to substantiate a claim like that," but that he would "defer to the president-elect's team for commentary on his tweets."

Trump claimed in a tweet Sunday that he would have won the popular vote over Hillary Clinton if "illegal" votes were not counted. He did not offer evidence to back this claim, and he has yet to provide any.
