1. Barr warns Democrats he might not attend House hearing

Attorney General William Barr reportedly threatened Sunday to back out of plans to testify before the House Judiciary Committee after a dispute over the format of the hearing. Barr is supposed to appear before the Senate and House judiciary committees on Wednesday and Thursday to discuss Special Counsel Robert Mueller's report on Russia's 2016 election meddling. Rep. Jerrold Nadler (D-N.Y.), who chairs the House panel, said the committee would subpoena Barr if he refused to appear willingly. "The witness is not going to tell the committee how to conduct its hearing, period," Nadler told CNN. A Justice Department official said at this point Barr's plan to appear had not changed. "Our position is the attorney general agreed to appear before Congress," the official said.
