Police have arrested a man in his sixties on suspicion of attempted murder. The incident was not believed to be terror-related, the Metropolitan Police told The Guardian.
"We treated four women at the scene for various stab wounds, including to the chest, legs and back," said a spokesperson for the London ambulance service.
Witness and local business owner Ben Brady told the BBC: "After stabbing the ladies, [the attacker] was just walking down the road waving the knife around."
A staff member from a nearby pub said it "didn't seem like they knew him" and added that he appeared to be "out of it".
"If it had been 10 or 20 minutes earlier there would have been children there because it's right outside a primary school," she said.
