Leicester City captain Wes Morgan could become an even more popular figure in the town after signing a sponsorship deal that entitles him to offer a free drink to everyone whenever he walks into a bar.

"The deal marks a continuation of a partnership between the two which was sparked following Leicester City's fairy tale league title win last season," says marketing website The Drum. "To mark the occasion Captain Morgan produced 11,000 limited edition bottles featuring Wes Morgan in a blue outfit which sold out in 24 hours."

The new "brand ambassador" deal contains a number of "spicy clauses", including one giving Morgan the right to buy everyone a drink when he is in a bar. The contract adds the Leicester skipper must "turn to face the patrons, extend his arms to form the shape of a 'Y' and shout, 'There's only one Captain Morgan!'" before treating the clientele to a rum and Coke.

However, only those who are not already drunk qualify for his largesse. The contract states: "Only anchors go overboard. Please drink responsibly."

The deal caps a year to remember for Leicester's captain Morgan, says Goal.com, adding: "Leicester's title defence may be on the rocks, but news of Morgan's unusual arrangement should serve to raise spirits around the King Power Stadium."

The centre-back did not seem concerned by his new responsibilities, tweeting the deal "could be the best contract I've ever signed".

However, the Leicester Mercury, which is understandably excited about the prospect of meeting Morgan in a bar, suggests the "lucrative three-year contract he signed with Leicester in the summer must run it close".
