This season, bigger is not necessarily better. In what could be called a rebellion against the domination of practical larger bags, design houses from Dolce & Gabbana to Stella McCartney have been launching ranges of micro equivalents. Their travel-light nature has been gaining these little luxuries some serious fashion credentials, whether worn solo or as an added extra to save searching for your keys in the bottom of your usual handbag. Here we take a look at some of spring/summer 2017's most sought-after examples.
Mini 'Lucia' bag, £1,450, Dolce & Gabbana
Dolce & Gabbana have created several ornate versions of their Lucia bag, including this petite gold metallic calf leather version. Fashioned in the iconic box silhouette, this miniature is lined in pink leather, comes complete with an accompanying compact mirror and is just big enough to fit your smartphone.

Rockstud chain wallet, £690, Valentino
Since the Rockstud made its debut in 2011, the cushion stud design has become one of fashion's cult collections. For this season Valentino has expressed this in a selection of micro bags, some only big enough for solo lipstick. This cross-body wallet in bold red is the best of both worlds; small enough to feel unconstrained but with two compartments (one zipped) to store your necessities.
Mini Trunk clutch, £450, Aspinal of London
Aspinal have taken contradictions to the extreme with this miniature take on a quintessential vintage suitcase. The whimsical badge detailing lends an edge of fun that any micro bag should possess, meanwhile the luxurious silk, pocketed lining is in-keeping with the level of quality for which the English brand is renowned.
Khaki Falabella box wicker mini shoulder bag, £655, Stella McCartney
Stella McCartney’s popular Falabella bag has been reimagined in a petite 16x14cm silhouette. Fashioned in the new wicker style launched for spring/summer 2017, it is paired with classic chain and faux leather edging. The khaki colouring of this piece makes for easy summertime wear and, as it's slightly larger than the other micro bags on the market, there's no need for another bag.
