Montegrappa releases exquisite Game of Thrones pen collection
Luxury Italian writing-instruments manufacturer partners with hit HBO show
Luxury Italian pen company Montegrappa has partnered, perhaps slightly unexpectedly, with Game of Thrones to create a line of high-end pens for a discerning, yet nerdy audience.
Montegrappa originally made its mark with pens that "go beyond flashy and straight into the realm of over-the-top gaudy," says PenHabit, "pens designed after superheros, pens covered with dollar signs, and even [a] monstrosity of pirate-related accoutrement."
Despite the brand's penchant for ostentation, its pens have long been appreciated by writing aficionados, who enthuse over their exceptional balance and build quality.

Montegrappa's new partnership with Game of Thrones brings four lines of pens that represent each of the key families from the hit HBO show: Stark, Baratheon, Lannister and Targaryen.
Each is available as a fountain pen, rollerball and a ballpoint pen and each is decorated with the sigils and emblems representative of the clan in question.
Produced in Bassano del Grappa in north-east Italy, the pens' designs are individualised for the families they represent. All the barrels and caps are made with colourful lacquered surfaces, while the trims are fashioned from palladium, or yellow and rose 18k gold-plate, with "Game of Thrones" engraved on the cap ring.
So which will you choose?
Baratheon
A dark charcoal pen accented with contrasting yellow gold, the House Baratheon option features a stag's head for its pocket clip above the motto: "Our Is The Fury." A fleur-de-lis pattern adorns the cap.
Lannister
For House Lannister, a gold accent contrasts with the pen's red body. It also features a lion's head on its pocket clip above the motto: "Hear Me Roar." A floral pattern, reminiscent of the Tudor Rose, decorates the cap.
Stark
With House Stark's northern origins, the pen is a silvery-white, accented in palladium. The cap is patterned with a Norse-style runic symbols. A direwolf’s head forms the pocket clip, above the motto: "Winter Is Coming."
Targaryen
Metallic red against a black background represents House Targaryen. A dragon's head forms the pocket clip, above the legend: "Fire and Blood" on the cap's top.
The ballpoint pens are available from www.hbostore.co.uk, priced at £185.95 each.
