7 Pines Ibiza: the perfect mini-break escape
New luxury resort is just 25 minutes from the old town, but a world away from its hectic hedonism
Nestled on the cliffs off the secluded western coast of Ibiza, 7 Pines is a luxury resort only 25 minutes from the old town but a world away from the hectic hedonism for which the island has become famous.
Part of The Leading Hotels of the World group, this new resort launched to much fanfare last summer and having ironed out the last of its teething problems opens in full this May.
The effect of the resort a instant sense of calm and a confidence that your every whim will be catered for.

Made up of 189 suites split across 39 villas, the self-contained complex also boasts two restaurants, three bars, a spa and wellness centre and stunning outdoor infinity swimming pool and lounge area – all overlooking the mythical island of Es Vedrà.
Legend has it the rocky outcrop is part of the lost island of Atlantis. It is also said to be one of the most magnetic points on Earth making it focal point for wellness tourists and UFO hunters, drawn to its mysticism and the large number of strange sightings that have been reported over the years.
7 Pines’ designers, acutely aware of the region’s history, have orientated the entire resort around Es Vedrà, with the double floor spa opening up to the ocean allowing yoga lovers to channel the island’s mystic energy.
Set slightly back from the coastline, the one bedroom suites are split level with a separate kitchen and living area that opens to a private outdoor patio or balcony. The exclusive cliff-front two-bedroom villas cover two floors and also contain a dining room which makes them perfect for large families or two couples.

The uniformity of the villas can make navigating around the resort confusing at first, but luckily 7 Pines has pioneered its own unique app, which hosts an interactive map and caters for everything from spa booking to in-room delivery.
There should be little reason to stay in, though, with two excellent restaurants on offer at the resort.
The more relaxed Cone Club serves up Mediterranean cuisine with Arabic and Asian influences, with obsiblue prawn tartare and king crab two must-try dishes.
The top floor View is an all-together more high-brow affair. Chef Seungmin Bae combines light European dishes with Korean flourishes, employing techniques such as steaming, fermentation and robata grilling.
The open kitchen Chef’s Table allows guests to see the cooking process in action, with bespoke dishes including slow cooked Patagonian black bass, manzanilla olive oil poached lobster and wagyu steamed beef and goose liver.
There is no private beach within the resort, but a secluded alcove just a 10 minute walk down the coast is a perfect hideaway and rarely busy, and even comes with a tiny beach bar ideal for whiling away the afternoon in the sun.
A new feature which launches this year is 7 Pines Yachting Services. In partnership with Pershing, which also sponsors one of the three bars, the resort offers a selection of yacht charters, catering for 12, 16 or 20 people.
Whether it is a day tip to Formentera or an exploration of the Sardinian coastline, all aspects are catered for, although with prices starting at €2,975 per day in the off season it is not cheap.
7 Pines is very much aimed at families and couples, with the majority of guests coming from the UK, US, Spain and Germany.
While some people can, and do, stay for longer it is the perfect place for a long weekend break or even a mid-week getaway.
Even for those staying just a couple of days, a trip to Ibiza town is well worth the 25 minute drive. Walking tours of the old city, which has been a World Heritage Site since 1999, offer stunning views of the harbour and a chance to walk along the best-preserved medieval walls in the Mediterranean.
For those who choose to go it alone, make sure to stop at the tiny Dan Circaco bar jut off the central square which serves up the best sangria on the island.
Nearby, La Dispensa is the perfect place to unwind for lunch before heading back to the resort for a final sunset cocktail on the deck.
7 Pines Ibiza opens on 1 May with suites starting from €590 a night.
