Sanchez and Ozil could both still quit Arsenal this month

Manchester City are taking one final crack at persuading Arsenal to sell Alexis Sanchez and, depending on which paper you read, the amount of money they have tabled ranges from between £50m to £60m.

The Daily Star claims that the Sky Blues "are ready to test Arsenal’s resolve to keep Sanchez with a mega offer in excess of £50m", while the Daily Mirror says that the Gunners can expect to receive a bid of £60m in the coming days.

Both papers are agreed, however, on the determination of Pep Guardiola to lure Sanchez to the Etihad before the transfer window closes at the end of the month. But at the same time the Mirror says that Arsene Wenger is increasingly confident that the Chilean marksman will see out the final year of his contract.

The Daily Telegraph also has its say on the saga, stating that City will crank up the pressure on Sanchez this week, offering him a £400,000-a-week contract - including bonuses and image rights - in the hope of making him hand in a transfer request. The paper says that he "could yet push for a move if he learns of an official City bid", hence the likelihood of an approach this week.

News of Sanchez is usually followed by rumours about Mesut Ozil and the Daily Express says that the lackadaisical German has "told his agent to get him a move to Barcelona this summer".

That will be welcome news for those Arsenal fans who believe the playmaker never willingly breaks into a sweat, as demonstrated in his half-hearted performance against Leicester.

Ozil is in the last year of his contract with the Gunners and according to Spanish outlet Don Balon, Ozil and his agent are putting out feelers to Barcelona in the hope they will come calling.

That could work out well for everyone - although it's unlikely Arsenal would recoup anywhere near the £42.5m they paid for the midfielder in 2013 when they signed him from Real Madrid - but it would mean making some money on a player who would otherwise leave on a free in June.
