Liverpool’s 100% winning record came to an end yesterday as they were held to a 1-1 draw by Manchester United.
The Premier League leaders earned a point at Old Trafford when Adam Lallana scored an equaliser with five minutes to go. Marcus Rashford had given United the lead with a goal in the 36th minute.

Rashford’s goal was a controversial one with the video assistant referee (VAR) ruling that Liverpool striker Divock Origi had not been fouled in the build up. Liverpool forward Sadio Mane also had a goal ruled out by VAR for handball.
The decisions by VAR and referee Martin Atkinson left Liverpool boss Jurgen Klopp furious and dismayed, the Daily Mail and Independent report.
“I think most people thought it was a foul [on Origi],” said the Anfield boss. “I am sure it was a foul. Mr Atkinson let the game go on because he knew we had VAR.
“As soon as they scored they checked it but then it was not obvious because with a challenge you cannot always be 100% sure. But without VAR I am 100% sure Atkinson would have blown for a foul.
“It’s great for offside and handball but for these situations we have not got it right yet. I was so confident that it was going to be overturned. It has to change that not many decisions are overturned.”
‘Snorey snorey Man Utd’
The Daily Mirror and Daily Star also report that German Klopp blasted United for their negative tactics. “This year, last year, the year before, they just defend,” he said. “That’s how it is. It is OK. It is no criticism. It is just a fact.
“When you think about Manchester United against Liverpool, you think both teams are trying like this. But it is not. We try.”
Liverpool remain six points clear of Manchester City at the top of the Premier League. United are 13th in the table following yesterday’s draw.
