Frank Lampard hailed his Chelsea “babies” after their superb 1-0 victory away at Ajax in the Champions League last night.

Substitute Michy Batshuayi scored the winning goal on 86 minutes to give the Blues the three points and move them level with Ajax at the top of group H.

Metro and i Sport report that Lampard’s team have “come of age” with their win in Amsterdam.

Speaking after the match the Blues boss said: “I’m delighted with every element of the performance. I think we’re allowed to be excited tonight.

“That’s the blueprint. There are no excuses for us now. That’s the standard and we can’t drop it.

“The young players are still babies in terms of Champions League minutes so this was a huge test for them.

“There was a good balance of young players and experience. We need to realise the things that made that happen tonight because Ajax are a top, top team.”

Holders Liverpool also won last night, 4-1 away at Genk in Champions League group E.
