Reasons for ICE agents to wear masks | June 5 editorial cartoons

This political cartoon is drawn to resemble a card from the Monopoly board game. It’s titled “White House Pardons” and shows the Monopoly man flying out of a cage. Next to the man is written “Get out of jail, free*” The note below the asterisk reads, “* or a million dollar ‘donation’ — or just say you like me!” The final text reads, “This card may be kept until needed.”

This cartoon depicts an elephant in a suit comforting a crying, distraught congressional bill labeled “Trump Tax Bill.” The bill is drawn to resemble a woman with red lips and yellow high heels. She says, “He called me abominable!” The elephant responds, “There, there, BeeBee, it was just the drugs talkin’!”

This cartoon depicts a Ku Klux Klansman in full Klan outfit with his arm around a masked ICE agent. The klansman says, “The mask is a nice touch.”

This editorial cartoon is set in a psychiatrist’s office where a man and a woman, presumably married, are seated on a couch having a couple’s therapy session. A male psychiatrist sits nearby with a notepad. The woman says, “I don’t know what you want and have no idea how to talk to you anymore.” The man responds, “That’s OK. Neither do the Democrats.”

This editorial cartoon pictures three masked men in tactical gear labeled “POLICE ICE” The first man says, “I only cover my face to hide an acne condition that may cause some people discomfort.” The second says, “I only cover my face to make my friends here feel less conspicuous.” The third says, “And I only cover my face to keep God from recognizing me and sending me straight to hell.”

The crazy things are: Donald Trump saying "Biden was killed in 2020…And he's a clone, too!" The petty things are: "Rants about Taylor Swift & Bruce Springsteen." The pointless things are: “Rename Gulf of Mexico” The unethical things are: “Cash for Pardons. Qatar jet. Crypto scam. Threaten judges. Unconstitutional orders.” The embarrassing things he believes are “False South African and Hand Tattoo! Photos." And the ridiculous things are, "Buy Greenland," and "Make Canada 51st state."

This cartoon takes place in a FEMA office that has been heavily damaged by some kind of natural disaster. A tree has fallen through the roof and a screen shows a quote from the acting FEMA director: “I didn’t know there was a hurricane season.” Two FEMA agents enter the room and one says, “Weird…can FEMA clean up a disaster in our own office?”

This cartoon depicts the Tooth Fairy, drawn as a flying tooth with a wand and a crown. The fairy says, “I don’t believe in Joni Ernst!”

This cartoon depicts two workers from Gulf Home Repair in blue work suits working on the head of the acting FEMA director. The acting director says, “I didn’t know the U.S. had a hurricane season…” One of the workers says to the other, “Roof damage.”
